Eircom have had a refusal of their plans to build a telecom mast in North Roscommon overturned by An Bord Pleanala.
Eircom Ltd trading as Eir, had applied for the 20 metre high lattice telecommunications support structure in Ballyfarnon in Roscommon.
The application was subject to several submissions of opposition from members of the public including Sligo/Leitrim TD Marc MacSharry.
Some of the submissions highlighted concerns over the visual impact of the tower, the listing of the permission in a Galway city newspaper and the effect it could have on neighbouring properties.
Following an appeal by Eir, the Higher Planning Authority has overturned Roscommon County Council's decision, granting permission with 9 conditions attached, one including a ruling that trees bordering the site be retained.
