Plans to upgrade the national electricity grid will not include any new power lines or pylons in the Shannonside Northern Sound region.
The billion euro energy upgrade will see hundreds of thousands of kilometres of new electrical wires across the county.
According to Eirgrid, upgrade works will take place on existing lines in Longford, Roscommon and Cavan.
While no works are planned to take place in Monaghan or Leitrim.
Worries have been raised of black or brownouts over the winter due to the current state of Ireland's energy infrastructure.
