The number of new cars registered in the Shannonside region in the first half of this year increased compared with last year.
The latest report from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry also show that Electric car sales have jumped dramatically across the 3 counties
New figures published by SIMI show registrations of new cars across Longford, Leitrim, and Roscommon increased on the same time last year.
Roscommon had the most amount of new cars registered in the region up to the end of July with 999, up from 837 on 2022.
111 of those are electric which represents a 54% increase on the same period last year.
467 new cars were sold in Longford in the first half of this year, a slight increase on 2022's figure of 448.
However, new electric car sales increased in the county by almost 80%, from 36 to 64.
In Leitrim, 6% more cars were sold compared to the same time last year, from 365 in 2022 to 387 this year.
Of those, 50 are electric, an increase from last year's figure of 37.
Nationally, over 104,000 new cars were sold in the first half of this year, up from 87,000 last year
