According to ESB Ireland, while the majority of properties will be restored by the weekend, a number of customers may have to wait until early next week. 

Sinead Flood, from Edgeworthstown, has been told she won't have power back until Sunday night.

The ESB says it is currently working to restore electricity to the affected areas and urges the public to never approach or touch fallen or damaged electricity wires.

It comes as the country remains under a severe weather alert with a Status Yellow warning still in place for counties across the Shannonside region.

716 ESB customers are without electricity as a result of the yellow wind warning that was issued for Co. Leitrim over the weekend.

31,000 Shannonside premises were initially impacted.

The ESB is working to restore power to these customers, but it expects some to remain without power until tomorrow night.
