An Elphin councillor says she has concerns about council plans to build 10 new houses in the town.
Councillor Valerie Byrne voted against the Part 8 development at the Boyle Municipal District meeting on Friday on the grounds that the new houses would make the area too densely populated.
The Independent councillor says there are already around 30 houses in Windmill Park and people there feel they will be losing their green area when the new houses are built.
She says there's also a concern that some of the new builds will be overlooking some of the existing homes.
Councillor Byrne says she understands the major need for housing that there is at present, but doesn't think this is the best location for them to be built.
