A Roscommon publican says he can understand why people would be angry after a social gathering at his premises was linked to Covid 19.
The HSE has confirmed that a Covid-19 case "associated with attendance at a bar in Elphin" has been nitified to helath officials.
Speaking to the Roscommon Herald, Gordon Murray, of the Bothar Nua pub, said he was "disappointed" a party took place at his premises last Saturday night - and he was unaware that he should have been self isolating while waiting for the results of a Coronavirus test.
The publican has subsequently tested positive for Covid and is now self isolating away from his family.
He claims he was only in the bar for around 40 minutes on the night and the group attending for a birthday party consisted of around 20 people, with sixty people in total in the bar and he was not consulted prior to their arrival for the party.
He confirmed that the bar is currently closed and has wished people who tested positive a "speedy recovery."
