A range of options need to be introduced to meet the housing needs of Ukrainian refugees in Ireland.
That's according to migrants rights charity, Doras, as the pressure on accommodation intensifies over the coming weeks.
Around 2,500 Ukrainians are due to leave student accommodation by the end of the month.
CEO of Doras and Roscommon native John Lannon insists the government should have made more progress on dealing with the accommodation challenges:
This is a consequence of a lack of planning over the last 6 months
The Department of Children have been under extraordinary pressure trying to find beds for people
But we've had time to put longer terms solutions in place.
A range of options need to be considered, were looking at bringing more vacant properties into use, incentivizing people to make more hotel rooms available, modular homes and pledged accommodation.
