Elphin post office will close its doors today at its existing premises on Main Street.
Postmaster Yvonne Miley is set to retire having taken over the role from her mother 22 years ago.
There had been concerns initially that locals would have to travel to Strokestown for postal services.
However, it's been confirmed this week that the office will now move to Glancy's Supermarket on Chapel Lane and will re-open on Monday June 20th.
Councillor Valerie Byrne has thanked Yvonne for her dedication over the years and says the post office is a vital service in the town.
"It's great to see we are not losing a service and especially after losing our bank it would have been shocking if we had lost our post office as well.
It's a sad day to see Yvonne to go; her mother was there before her for many years and she took over the baton from her.
To herself and joe and all her family, we want to wish them, from Elphin a big thank you."
