Comedian Ricky Gervais has tweeted his support for an elderly Roscommon man and his pet dog who are trying to overturn a court order to have the Jack Russell put down.
Last month a High Court appeal against an order directing the destruction of 'Kim' who is owned by 85-year-old retired Garda Donal Rogers was formally withdrawn.
The destruction order was made arising out of an incident when the dog bit a woman as she was walking the Strokestown Famine Trail on the afternoon of March 6th, 2022.
The English comedian, who wrote and starred in the office and 'Extras' retweeted a link he was made aware of showing video of Mr Rogers and his pet.
He wrote 'this is so sad and frustrating. Anyone out there know how this dog can be saved?' which gathered hundreds of likes and retweets.
Thousands of euro has been collected online as part of a campaign to keep the dog alive.
