In a statement to Shannonside FM News, FIE state that their concerns seem to have been addressed.

The environmental group behind the court cases and original objections to the Lough Funshinagh Flood Relief Scheme have welcomed the lodging of planning permission for a temporary solution. Roscommon County Council first sought to drain floodwater in 2021 but was successfully challenged in the High Court by Friends of the Irish Environment citing a breach of EU directives. A second attempt by the council ended in a similar result. A planning application will be lodged today looking for the go-ahead for a temporary pipeline and pumps at Curraghboy.

In a statement to Shannonside FM News, FIE state that their concerns seem to have been addressed by the new application to An Bord Pleanála. Director of the group, Tony Lowes, says that they are looking forward to seeing the full project details.
