Irish Water says it's falling short of its own targets on delivering a critical wastewater infrastructure in Ireland.
A new report from the EPA shows there are 35 towns and villages in Ireland where raw sewage is released into the environment every day.
The publication by the Environmental Protection Agency shows 113 areas across Ireland need "priority action" in order to protect public health and the environment.
Wastewater discharges in Mohill in Leitrim is also listed as putting pressure on nearby rivers and lakes.
Roscommon town was in the report as one of seven areas that need improvements to ensure all wastewater collected in sewers is retained and convoyed for treatment in normal weather conditions.
In the report, the EPA criticises Irish Water for delays and uncertainty in delivering improvements to Infrastructure.
