The ESB has issued a warning to General Election candidates about the dangers of erecting posters on electricity poles.
ESB Networks says they've previously been required to interrupt electricity supply to households and businesses in order to remove posters.
A statement from the ESB said the placement of election material is strictly prohibited and poses a serious safety risk.
It says it exposes both members of the public and crews to the risk of electric shock, burns and falling from a height.
Members of the public have been asked to report any potential dangers to ESB Networks by calling 1800 372 999.
