An ESB local area manager says trying to keep large birds from flying into power lines is becoming more of a challenge in recent years.
Jarlath Doyle was speaking following an incident between Rooskey and Strokestown on Monday afternoon when up to three swans flew into power lines resulting in a loss of supply to local premises for two hours.
The ESB manager says that the facility will put bird warning spheres on the lines where the incident happened in an affect to give better visibility for the swans.
Jarlath Doyle also says that with new areas being flooded in recent years it's hard to gauge the swan's flight paths.
He says weather conditions on Monday didn't help either.
