The ESB has applied for planning permission for the extension of a substation in Ballaghaderreen. The development will consist of a physical extension of 313 square metres to the existing electricity substation compound. Works will include the partial removal of an existing palisade fence and the provision of a new electrical plant and equipment.
Equipment will include a new prefab module, megavolt-amp transformers and two new 38 kilo-volt cubicles. The proposed works will also include an internal access road, new fencing and site services and all ancillary works at Kilcoman and Ballyoughter. Roscommon County Council says a decision is due on 12th of June.
