Roscommon Galway TD Denis Naughten has called on the Government to stall any plan by the ESB to demolish the power stations at Shannonbridge and Lanesboro.
Deputy Naughten is also seeking immediate clarity on the future job prospects for seasonal staff in Bord na Mona and on the rates of pay for the rehabilitation works on the bogs across the Midland counties.
Both stations are into the final weeks of burning peat after 70-years by the 18th of December.
Deputy Naughten says he is aware of three separate power generation proposals including the conversion of the power plants to hydrogen fuel power.
He asks that the ESB does not make the mistakes that were made in the past until all possible alternatives have been fully explored.
