ESB warns it may be days before power is restored to some households

There are over 200 without electricity in Longford, over 4,000 in Roscommon, and almost 3,200 in Leitrim.

Several schools in the Shannonside region are closed and over 7,000 homes and businesses are still without power, due to Storm Darragh. There are over 200 without electricity in Longford, over 4,000 in Roscommon, and almost 3,200 in Leitrim. Five schools are closed in Longford town - St Mel's College, St Joseph's National School, Gaelscoil Longfoirt, Meán Scoil Mhuire and Templemichael College.

Mohill Community College in Co Leitrim is also shut today, along with Longford Sports and Leisure Centre. Jarlath Doyle, area manager for ESB Networks, says the electricity faults won't be completely solved for some time:

Ballinamore councillor Gary Prior says the water problems, caused by the power outages, are angering people:
