Carrigallen in county Leitrim is one of the worst hit areas in the region with over 2,000 customers without power.

Brendan Barry has called on Minister responsible for the forest service to explain what has been done to protect electricity lines from falling trees.

Roscommon County Council will decide on the issue in the coming months.

Approximately 1,000 residences remain without power, five days on from Storm Isha, with further outages caused by Storm Jocelyn.

His call comes after over 230,000 people were left without power due to Storm Isha last Sunday.

The Shannonside region was among the worst hit by the storm

ESB crews are still working to restore power to thousands of homes across the Shannonside region this morning following Storm Isha.

Boyle, Ballaghaderreen and Arigna are some of the worst-affected areas where thousands of customers are still waiting for power to return.
