The Midland's only domestic violence refuge has received over €110,000 in funding for new DV training programmes.
Esker House in Athlone operates the region's only 24 hour support line for victims of Domestic Abuse.
The service which includes five refuge beds for those in need, has been working in the area since 1982.
Esker House is currently seeking a new site to allow them to extend their refuge facilities.
The funding was announced this week by Minister for Justice Helen McEntee as part of the Community Safety Innovation Fund, which invests the proceeds of crime back into the community.
Head of services at Esker House, Deirdre Berry says that the funding will end up helping a lot of people in the future.
