The European Union is putting more focus on environmental issues instead of food security according to a local TD.
Roscommon Galway TD Michael Fitzmaurice made the comments following the fall out from the EU changes to nitrate rules which will see herds have to be cut or new land secured by many farmers.
The IFA, Macra and other farm groups picketed the meeting yesterday with the Minister for Agriculture to discuss changes.
