The proposed timelines for flood-relief works in south Roscommon are extremely concerning, according to a European elections candidate. OPW Minister Kieran O'Donnell has indicated a permanent solution to the Lough Funshinagh crisis, involving an overflow pipe, won't be in place until next year.
But he says a temporary solution could be in place by the autumn. European elections candidate in the Midlands Northwest constituency, Ciaran Mullooly, says more urgency is needed.
