European arrest warrants have been issued for two men who are wanted in connection with an assault at a Longford nightclub five years ago.
Longford Circuit Court heard that the men had left the jurisdiction following an incident at Halloween in 2017.
Detective Garda Damien McGovern outlined in evidence that three men had been identified in connection with the assault on a young man in the upper part of a nightclub on the 30th of October 2017.
However, only one, Bartosz Surowiecki, with an address in Edgeworthstown, was before the court.
Two others had left the jurisdiction and European arrest warrants had been issued for them
The 42-year-old pleaded guilty to a section three assault and the court heard he admitted to punching the victim following an altercation on the dance floor.
He made certain admissions to Gardai and was described as being co-operative.
The married father of two apologised to his victim, who declined to give a victim impact statement, and brought €500 to court by way of compensation.
Judge Keenan Johnson said the incident was a reasonably serious assault and a probation report showed the 42-year-old at a low risk of re-offending.
He explained that if the father of two was to bring €4,500 to court for the victim in early October, he would consider section 1.2 of the Probation Act which may impose a nominal penalty on the accused.
