Ten sports clubs in the Shannonside Region are now eligible for new funds for the provision of electric vehicle charge points. The grants come from the Shared Island Sports Club EV Charging Scheme, a 15 million euro scheme to install new EV Chargers for club members and visitors. Successful clubs in Longford include Slashers, Longford Rugby club and Clonguish GAA. In Roscommon , St Brigid's, Fuerty and Kilbride GAA are among the clubs getting the grant.
No clubs in Leitrim are currently available for the funding according to the Department of Transport. Lack of charging points has been one of the biggest concerns for EV drivers in Ireland according to new studies.
