A special exhibition to mark the centenary of An Garda Siochana will open at Longford Library this evening.
The event which will begin at 7:30pm will showcase a range of Garda memorabilia while a number of guest speakers will also be in attendance.
Retired Chief Superintendent John O'Brien and historian Dr. Paul Hughes will give a talk on the history of An Garda Siochana.
The exhibition will be rolled out to other libraries in the county over the coming weeks.
Longford Superintendent Seamus Boyle says the evening promises to be very special with the families of former members attending.
"There is really some interesting stuff on the characters, the people who came to Longford 100 years ago, where they went in Granard and Longford and we also hope to have some family members of the original members who came to Longford at that time there. A lot of them stayed in Longford and reared their families in Longford so we hope to have them there as well".
