Expanding access to free contraception for women will be a priority in the next National Sexual Health Strategy.
A review of the current strategy has found 49 of the 56 priority actions have been successfully completed.
It aims to highlight the importance of supporting healthy attitudes to sexuality throughout the life course.
Junior Minister Hildegarde Naughton says the next strategy will be published by the end of the year:
'We'll also be further developing and expanding the free contraception scheme for women and the national condom distribution service to better support people's contraception and STI prevention needs.
I look forward to wider collaboration with all of our stakeholders and colleagues to improve and expand our delivery of sexual and reproductive healthcare.'
