Additional Gardai will be allocated to Carrick-on-Shannon Garda Station to carry out drug duties.
That's according to Chief Superintendent Aidan Glackin who says there's a focus on the organisers of drug dealing.
It's understood two full-time drug officers will be placed in Carrick-on-Shannon who will work under the local detective unit.
This month's meeting of Leitrim Joint Policing committee heard five new sergeants have been appointed across the county.
This includes one in both Ballinamore and Drumshanbo, three in Carrick-on-Shannon and two in Manorhamilton.
Chief Superintendent Glackin welcomed the roles stating it will be of huge benefit to support the welfare of local Gardai.
