It's believed that additional staffing resources are to deployed by the HSE at a Ballinasloe nursing home affected by a major Covid outbreak.
Health officials have been accused of abandoning the Nightingale Nursing Home after just a handful of staff were left the run the centre after 90% of its residents tested positive for Covid this week.
Independent TD Michael Fitzmaurice says 25 out of 27 residents in the home have tested positive, while one of them has died.
It was also claimed 7 out of 8 nursing staff have also been infected, along with 10 out of 11 healthcare assistants.
Deputy Denis Naughten this afternoon says after contacting the Health Minister Stephen Donnelly staff from Roscommon University Hospital are to be drafted in to help the situation.
