The Horkan family say they are taking immense solace from the continued support from the public following the death of Detective Garda Colm Horkan.
The 49-year-old was shot dead in Castlerea in June and a man is currently before the courts charged with his capital murder.
This weekend would have been Colm's 50th birthday and his local GAA club in Charlestown is launching a fundraising drive for a new pitch to be named in his honor.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, Colm's brother Dermot says people are still reaching out to the family.
