A son of the late broadcaster and athlete Brendan O'Reilly has said the family is still disappointed that no plaque has been erected in the town of Granard to honour his achievements.
Kelan O' Reilly was speaking today on the 20th anniversary of the death of his father in 2001, aged 71.
Brendan O' Reilly who was born in Granard qualified for the Olympics in 1956 but didn't get to go because his club couldn't raise the necessary funds. He went on to become a household name in Ireland through his work with RTE and was also known for his musical and acting skills.
He wrote and sang The Ballad of Michael Collins which his sons have now recorded as a tribute to his father on his 20th anniversary.
