A Longford man killed one hundred years ago tomorrow will be remembered by his family this weekend in a special online event.
42-year-old Thomas Beirne was shot at Fearglass near Gortletteragh and his family hopes that a special in person event can take place later this year to remember him.
His grand-nephew, Leitrim councillor Des Guckian, has published a booklet to remember the Longford native who on May 1st 1921 at his grandmother's home.
Des says that this weekend's zoom event is just for family but they are hopeful that a more public memorial for his grand uncle will take place later when Covid restrictions ease further :
