A farewell event is taking place tonight for three sisters to mark the closure of their convent in Boyle after 23 years. The Sisters of Mercy have run the Galilee Spirituality Centre since 2001, but it is now closing down.
A 'thank you' event for Sisters Mae, Margaret and Olive is taking place this evening, with Mass in Ballinfad Church at 7 o'clock and refreshments afterwards in the Mayfly Inn, Ballinafad. Local TD Frank Feighan is paying tribute to them, as they leave for Roscommon town and Athlone:
