Farmers are being invited to a special beef walk in county Roscommon this evening.
It's being organised by Teagasc on the farm of Padraig and Catherine McGrath in Cloonshanagh in Elphin.
The walk will begin at 5:30pm and a range of topics will be discussed.
Farm Advisor Gerry Creggan says it's about driving change in the beef industry.
'We are looking at ways that can reduce down the use of nitrogen in fertilizer to reduce costs and part of the innovation that Padraig introduced last year was the reseeding of silage ground with clover and for farmers that are interested we saved about 300 euro per acre in terms of nitrogen fertilizer by producing 25 bales of silage an acre of ground by sowing clover so we are trying to get that point across.'
