Some of the 42 farmers with land adjacent to Lough Fuinshinagh in South Roscommon have started to have their farm payments cut due to rising water levels.

That's according to Jim O'Connor, Chair of Roscommon IFA who is calling on the Agriculture Minister to do something to address the issue.

This month Minister for the Office of Public Works with responsibility for flooding Patrick O'Donovan visited the River Shannon in Athlone to inspect flood prevention cells that have been installed there.

However, local campaign groups who met with him say they are disappointed with the lack of progress on addressing flooding issues to date.

Roscommon IFA Chair Jim O'Connor says when landowners are seeing their homes threatened as well as their income affected by this issue, it's time to act:
