The manager of a local sustainable farming project hopes it's presence at a major gardening festival will boost tourism in the region
Farming Rathcroghan-European Innovation Partnership will be one of the Postcard Gardens at the Bord Bia Bloom festival this week
Farming Rathcroghan is an initiative designed to enhance the archaelogical landscape and promote sustainable farming practices.
The groups concept garden features the Rathcroghan Mound as the centrepiece.
Project Manager with Farming Rathcroghan, Richie Farrell, says the area is often overshadowed by other attractions and he hopes their showcase will attract people to the site.
"Rathcroghan is one of the royal sites of Ireland and we probably don't get the recognition that we deserve compared with Newgrange and the likes. Farming needs to continue. Farming is the best way to maintain the archaelogical features because the archaeology is not going anywhere and the farming isn't going anywhere so to marry the two together and to have the showcase on a day like this is so exciting".
