The father of one of the girls rescued in Galway yesterday after drifting out to sea says he was beginning to lose hope.
Cousins Ellen Glynn and Sara Feeney spent 15 hours in the water after high winds brought their paddle boards 27 kilometres from land.
Hopes were fading yesterday morning after Ellen and Sarah had spent the night at sea.
They went paddle boarding off Furbo beach on Wednesday evening when they were carried out in high winds.
But after spending 15 hours in the water with their boards tied together, they were rescued by fisherman Patrick Oliver and his son Morgan.
Despite a night of high winds and waves, the girls managed to cling onto a lobster pot which ultimately saved their lives.
Ellen's Dad Johnny Glynn says he was beginning to lose hope.
The girls had drifted 27 kilometres out to sea when they were found by the Olivers who gave them food and blankets.
Johnny Glynn says that they're going to frame the hats that the girls were given on the boat by the heroic father and son.
