There are fears for over 130 jobs at a Longford transport Company. Masterlink Logistics operates 10 locations nationwide with a major distribution facility located in Ballyminnion on the Athlone Road outside Longford Town. According local Fianna Fail TD Joe Flaherty, the loss of a contract with a major supermarket chain has resulted in the company looking at reducing staff.
Deputy Flaherty says Masterlink has now begun a 30 day consultation period with staff on site while attempting to backfill contracts to manage the fallout of the contract loss. The company have operated the facility in Longford for 9 years with 130 staff members including drivers, warehouse operators and admin staff based at the Ballyminnion site. Shannonside FM News has contacted Masterlink Logistics for a statement and are awaiting a response.
