Seven local Ulster Bank branches could be under threat as speculation mounts the bank's owner could choose to end operations in the Republic.

Ulster Bank closed a number of branches in the Shannonside Northern Sound region in recent years but it still has seven branches across Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon, Longford and Westmeath.
