Fears Longford fire could have major effect on local economy

A major fire in Longford Town over the weekend will have a serious knock on effect on the local economy.

That's the view of the President of the Longford Chamber of Commerce, Fulton Grant who says the closure of Grafton Court will restrict trade through the town.

Grafton Court provides the main vehicle and pedestrian link from Main Street in the Town to the Longford Shopping Centre and hundreds of car parking spaces.

The Chamber president is calling for the route to be re-opened to pedestrians as soon as possible.

Speaking to Shannonside FM news, Fulton Grant says the business community in Longford most come together to help those impacted by the fire.
