Arrabawn diaries opened its Kilconnell plant in the 1960's with its headquarters based in Nenagh Co. Tipperary.

Around 140 jobs could be lost at a dairy co-op in East Galway following reports the plant has been sold.

It's understood the board of Arrabawn Dairies which is based in Kilconnel voted to close its liquid milk plant at a meeting last night.

The potential loss of jobs in the area is being described as a major blow and local TD Denis Naughten is now seeking a meeting with Agriculture Minsiter Charlie McConalogue to explore all options.
