Fears raised over future of Carrick-on-Shannon Post Office

It comes following the resignation of current postmistress Ann Gormley following a number of years in the role.

Concerns are being raised regarding the future of the Carrick-on-Shannon Post Office. It comes following the resignation of current postmistress Ann Gormley following a number of years in the role. An Post says her resignation will not disrupt the service going forward, but there are fears the office itself will be forced to move. The vacancy for the contract has been advertised with a closing date of 20th of September for applications. An Post says preference will be given to candidates who co-locate the post office with a compatible business in a suitable premises. Fine Gael Councillor Maeve Reynolds says it's important the service remains on St George's Terrace. Cllr Reynolds paid tribute to the outgoing postmistress:
