Fine Gael TD Frank Feighan says a new national school building for Carrick-on-Shannon will be progressed as soon as a site is confirmed. Scoil Mhuire's pupil numbers have almost doubled in the past 10 years, with nearly 500 children at the moment.
The school is spread over two campuses, and some classes are held in prefabs and subdivided rooms. Deputy Feighan is aiming to be a government minister after the next election - and says the issue is a priority for him:
