FG Senator says Irish troops may have role in Gaza resolution

She said members based in Lebanon could have a part to play when the situation becomes more stable.

A local Senator has said Irish troops may have an important role to play in the resolution of the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. Fine Gael Senator Aisling Dolan said peace-keepers in the region have the experience necessary to help maintain any potential ceasefire.

Senator Dolan said the Defence Forces have been carrying out such operations for a number of years. She said members based in Lebanon could have a part to play when the situation becomes more stable. Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show, the Fine Gael Senator said Ireland would work closely with the UN and other peace-keeping forces:
