Fianna Fail has ratified two candidates in south Roscommon to run in next year's local elections.
The candidates for the Athlone MD include current Councillor John Keogh as well as Athleague native James Murray.
The convention was held earlier this week in the Hodson Bay Hotel in Athlone with both selected without the need of a vote taking place.
New candidate James Murray is the son of former councillor Anthony Murray who served on Roscommon Council from the mid eighties to the early nineties.
Fianna Fail Conventions in the two other municipal districts in Roscommon will take place in the coming weeks.
