Fianna Fáil hopeful says party must win back its seat in Roscommon-Galway

The party has confirmed it will select just one General Election candidate at its convention next Thursday.

Fianna Fáil will select just one candidate at its selection convention for Roscommon-Galway in Roscommon town. Four nominees will now contest the party's selection convention for the constituency next Thursday evening at The Abbey Hotel. It comes as Roscommon County Council Cathaoirleach Paschal Fitzmaurice confirmed his withdrawal from the process earlier today. Senator Eugene Murphy, Cllr John Keogh, Dr Martin Daly and Malachy Hand will contest the convention at The Abbey Hotel.

Brideswell native, Malachy Hand, previously ran in local elections in 2019, gaining 663 first preference votes in the Athlone LEA. The Chair of the Athlone Fianna Fáil Comhairle Ceantair says he didn't run in recent local elections due to work commitments.
