Fianna Fáil has refused to add Roscommon senator Eugene Murphy to its general election ticket in Roscommon-Galway.
The Scramogue man asked party headquarters to allow him run alongside Ballygar GP Martin Daly.
The medic narrowly beat the longserving politician in a selection convention earlier this month.
Fianna Fáil has rejected Murphy's request to be added - as it will only be running one candidate in the constituency.
Senator Murphy has been speaking to our reporter, Eoghan Murphy, about the news this evening.
