The eight finalists for the inaugural Roscommon leader Partnership awards have been confirmed.
The event celebrates the best in social enterprise and self-employment across the county and will be presented in association with Shannonside FM at a gala event in Kilbride centre next Friday.
Dozens of entries were received for the awards and the shortlist showcases the best in social enterprises and firms providing self-employment across Roscommon. Friday night's ceremony will see four contestants for the social enterprise awards fight it out for a cash prize fund of 2500 euro and an advertising campaign with Shannonside and the Roscommon herald both of whom are sponsoring the event.
The nominees are Moore Community Council for their work Moore Community Hall, Lough Ree Access For All which promotes inclusive water based activities to people with a physical or intellectual disability, elderly persons or those with mobility difficulties or suffering from dementia. Úna Bhán Tourism Co-operative is located in the grounds of King House in Boyle and gives development advice and marketing supports to rural tourism providers in the surrounding area. TRIEST PRESS provides meaningful employment and training opportunities for people with an intellectual disability in Roscommon town and Castlerea.
The Self Employment Awards will also be handed out on Friday evening and the nominees here include:
Elizabeth Cummins, from Ballaghaderreen, who has been in the health and fitness industry for more than ten years and runs her own clinic in Ballaghaderreen. Donal Haughey, who is the founder of Roscommon Windows, which was established in 2012.
Lydia Clayton who designs innovative jewellery and is located in a private studio in Athleague and Daire Coyle who runs his own heat pump enterprise and has secured a contract with one heating design company based in the west of Ireland.
The awards ceremony begins at 5pm on Friday afternoon in Kilbride community centre.
