Fine Gael have confirmed the party's selection convention for the Carrick-on-Shannon Municipal District will take place early next week. School teacher Maeve Reynolds is the party's sole candidate in Carrick after she was confirmed earlier this week. The uncontested convention will take place in The Landmark Hotel in Carrick at 7.30 pm next Tuesday.
Ms Reynolds is from Annaduff and lives between Jamestown and Drumsna. She's aged in her 30s and has three children. Her confirmation brought an end to Fine Gael's difficult search for a candidate in the Carrick MD. The party's sitting councillors Finola Armstrong-Maguire and Thomas Mulligan had earlier confirmed they would not be seeking re-election.
