Over 300 party members are eligible to vote at the convention which will be chaired by MEP Maria Walsh.

Fine Gael is expected to name just one candidate at its selection convention for the Roscommon-Galway constituency. The party will choose its representative for the forthcoming General Election at The Abbey Hotel in Roscommon this evening. Over 300 party members are eligible to vote at the convention which will be chaired by MEP Maria Walsh. Cllr John Naughten will be hoping to step into the void left by his brother and Independent TD Denis Naughten as he bows out of politics:

Meanwhile, Galway Councillor Alan Harney has declined to comment ahead of tonight's selection convention which starts at 7.30 pm.
