The Tanaiste believes the Fine Gael Party can win a seat in the Roscommon/Galway East constituency at the next General Election.
Leo Varadkar was speaking on a visit to Roscommon on Thursday where he opened a new constituency office for Senator Aisling Dolan, as a likely candidate for the next race for the dail.
The Fine Gael leader stated the party had lost ground in the area in recent years but hoped by 2024 they could make a gain.
He admitted the closure of the Roscommon A&E department saw a major loss of support locally but believes subsequent investment in the hospital, as well as the rejuvenated 9 million euro town centre works, has shown commitment to the county.
The Enterprise Minister says the creation of further jobs, the availability of broadband and dealing with the rise in the cost of living will all help with voters in the local constituency.
"In the constituency of Roscommon East Galway there is no government TD in fact and this is a constituency where the government can make a gain in the next election. I'd love that to be a seat gain for Fine Gael. I think the most important thing to gain ground, and we have gained ground in this constituency is to deal with people's concerns and worries and this is what this is all about. standing here in the market square is an example of what can be done. it's really improved the quality of the town."
