Well known Lanesboro man Adie Farrell passed away in Mullingar Hospital earlier this week.

The three were arrested as part of ongoing Garda investigations into recent burglaries in Co Roscommon and offences in Westmeath, Cavan, Meath, Offaly, Dublin and Kildare.

Cllr John Naughten and Arigna woman Dympna Daly Finn were chosen to represent the party.

Alan Harney had earlier withdrawn from the selection process.

Over 300 party members are eligible to vote at the convention which will be chaired by MEP Maria Walsh.

Fine Gael hasn't had a TD elected in Roscommon since the county's accident and emergency unit was closed in 2011.

In July, he said he was considering standing down, less than a month after being re-elected in the local elections.

Illegal dumping has been an issue at the site for many years.
