It's hoped that a mural in Carrick-on-Shannon, which depicts some of Leitrim's most famous writers and poets, will become a focal point for attracting tourists to the town
The artwork, which is on a gable wall on the Main street, was completed in the last number of days by artist Nik Purdy,
It depicts Susan Mitchell, Nora Murray, Canon William Slator, John McGahren and M.J. McManus with dozens of people stopping to take pictures off it over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The mural was funded under the Rural Development LEADER Programme and developed through the Leitrim Development Company as well as the Carrick on Shannon Heritage Group
Brian Smyth of the LCDC told Shannonside FM the mural will hopefully become a major talking point in the town :
